Project Overview

This Fresno homeowner had pool equipment that was over 15 years old, running inefficiently and costing a fortune in electricity. The old single-speed pump ran at full power all day, the filter was undersized and hard to clean, and the plumbing had no service valves so every repair meant cutting pipes. We replaced everything with modern energy-efficient equipment, installed a new cartridge filter for easier maintenance, and replumbed the system with proper valving so future service takes minutes instead of hours.

The Challenge

The existing equipment was outdated and inefficient. The old pump alone was pulling 2400 watts and running 8 hours a day. The homeowner was paying over $150 per month just to run the pool. The filter was a small sand filter that needed backwashing every week, wasting hundreds of gallons of water. There were no shut-off valves, so even simple repairs required draining the pool or working with water spraying everywhere. The whole setup was a maintenance nightmare.

Our Solution

We removed all the old equipment and started fresh. We installed a high-efficiency variable speed pump that runs at lower speeds for circulation and ramps up only when needed for cleaning. We upgraded to a large cartridge filter that captures finer particles and only needs cleaning a few times per season. The new plumbing layout includes union connections at every piece of equipment and ball valves on all the lines so any component can be isolated for service without affecting the rest of the system. We also added a secondary pump for water features or future spa integration.
