Project Overview
This Fresno pool had a skimmer that was over 20 years old with cracks in both the skimmer body and the surrounding concrete. Water was seeping behind the skimmer and eroding the soil underneath the deck, causing the concrete to settle and crack even more. We removed the old skimmer, excavated the damaged area, installed a modern two-port skimmer with proper waterproofing, and repaired the deck to stop the leak and prevent future damage.

The Challenge
The old skimmer had developed hairline cracks from years of freeze-thaw cycles and ground settling. These cracks allowed pool water to leak behind the skimmer and wash out the soil supporting the deck. The concrete around the skimmer was crumbling and the plaster bond had failed. The homeowner was losing water daily and the deck was sinking. We needed to replace the skimmer without draining the entire pool and repair the deck to match the existing finish.
Our Solution
We lowered the pool water below the skimmer level and carefully cut out the old unit along with the damaged concrete and plaster. After excavating the washed-out soil, we compacted new base material and installed a modern ABS skimmer with dual suction ports for better flow. We sealed all penetrations with pool-grade silicone and hydraulic cement, then patched the concrete deck and pool plaster to match the existing surfaces. We pressure tested the system before refilling to ensure a watertight seal.
