Project Overview
This Hanford pool had a skimmer with cracked underground plumbing that was leaking water and causing the concrete deck to crack and sink. The PVC pipes beneath the skimmer had broken from ground movement and age, allowing pool water to wash out the soil and undermine the deck. We excavated the damaged area, replaced all the broken plumbing, installed a new modern skimmer, and repaired the concrete to stop the leak and stabilize the deck.

The Challenge
The skimmer plumbing had developed cracks from years of ground settling and freeze-thaw stress. These cracks allowed hundreds of gallons of water to leak daily, eroding the soil underneath the deck and causing dangerous voids. The concrete around the skimmer was breaking apart and the entire area was unstable. The homeowner noticed their water bill climbing and the deck sinking near the pool. We needed to repair the plumbing without draining the pool or tearing up the entire deck.
Our Solution
We lowered the pool water and carefully excavated around the failed plumbing. After removing the broken PVC pipes and damaged concrete, we installed new schedule 40 PVC plumbing with proper support and backfill to prevent future settling. We upgraded to a modern dual-port skimmer with a larger basket for better debris collection. All pipe connections were solvent welded and tested under pressure before backfilling. We poured new concrete to match the existing deck and sealed all penetrations to prevent water intrusion.
